And, by problems, we mean to say that your income goals will not be met. While the upfront costs of opening an online business are quite small, the long-term potential for your sustainability are low unless you pay attention to the principles highlighted in this article.

Targeted Traffic Equals More Money

The main thing to keep in mind is that in order to make money using keywords in the online world, you need to get traffic. Specifically, online traffic that is targeted for your particular product, service or information is what it is all about. Just like in the ‘real world’ you cannot just provide a one size fits all approach. This will not get your site high in the search engine rankings and will not get your income in the top levels either. This article is not meant to be all about the money, but when we are talking about business, the way that success is measured at the end of the day is in terms of profit or loss.

So, when we talk about search engine rankings, what we really mean is how does your site stack up against the others in Google and Yahoo, these are the big players and where most traffic to your site will come from. An authority site in the eyes of these search engines will rank in the top three positions. These positions are coveted as among them, there is also a significant difference in traffic. The top position is obviously best, where the 2nd and 3rd are less, respectively. If your site doesn’t make it to the first page of the search engines for the terms that you are targeting, then you will likely see little in terms of traffic. Little, at least, in comparison to what is possible.

Search Engine Ranking Is A Science

This article is highlighting one way to go about improving your search engine rankings and we are discussing the use of articles directories to do that. An article directory is simply another website. However, this site is geared towards making its income off of the potential mass of information it will provide to the online world. Think of these sites like large newspapers or magazines. However, like we talked about in business, the bottom line is what really matters. Sometimes, as a small business owner you may be inclined to meddle with the smallest things looking for some way to increase profits. However, this is sometimes wasted energy and time that could be better spent elsewhere.

If you want to spend your energy wisely using a system of article marketing submissions, here are a few recommendations. First of all, if you are going to do this as an online venture, you need to have some realistic expectations in mind. There is a great likelihood that you will not see any profits for up to 6 months. This is actually a good estimate for many businesses. In the ‘real world’ it could be a year or more before a business is ‘in the black’. It could take this long or more online as well. It is just that since you have so little financially invested, in most cases, with your online business that you stand to make a profit sooner that is all.

Just keep in mind that most people either have time or money on their side in this equation at first. In the end, you’d like to have both time and money. This will come. However, when you are just starting out and have a lot of time, you may have to do all of this work yourself. This work requires a lot of writing. You’ll need to write content for your site as well as content for your article submissions. When you begin making money with this or simply have money set aside in the beginning of your business venture, you can outsource this writing to others. This can free up your time and make your efforts compounded, especially if you are also still writing too. In the end, if you use article directory sites and other advice you read online to improve your search engine rank, then you could be making hundreds to thousands a month with this online business.
